A Simple Solution To A Dangerous Skin Problem

Dry, flaky, dull skin is not only unappealing but it can cause wrinkles and make you look more tired, older and unhealthy. It is uncomfortable and sometimes you might not even feel like smiling. I know many of us use hand moisturizer whenever we feel dryness on our hands. I know many of us cannot live without lip balm in our purse/pocket.

But what about your face?
You don’t want to just ignore it and you also don’t want to wait until night time to apply moisturizer. Not to mention that it’s not comfortable either.

You probably wash your face, apply moisturizer (check HERE if you’re doing it properly!), and makeup in the morning and that’s it. You may reapply makeup in the afternoon or in the evening if you go out but keep in mind that not reapplying the moisturizer often enough causes dryness. This is very dangerous to your skin.

I know some people get oily skin during the colder season so they try to eliminate all the “oils” from skin care products. This is also dangerous to your skin.

One of the reasons your skin produces oil is to maintain the skin’s moisture level. Simply put, if the skin gets too dry, it produces excess oil to balance itself out. Which means that the more hydrated the skin is, the less excess oil is produced.

When I was living in Japan, I used to get a lot of cosmetics for “hydration” purposes. Spray, mists and lotions. I personally liked the spray mist lotions since they can easily hydrate the skin even when wearing makeup. However, in California a spray moisturizer or so-called mist lotion isn’t something that is easy to find. Many of the “moisturizers” I use are a cream type which are hard to reapply if I have make up on.

One day I decided to make my own mist with my favorite aroma oils. Surprisingly, my spray moisturizer worked much better than the store bought ones (and so much cheaper!). Now, my whole family likes to use it, we simply love, can’t live without it.

I add vegetable glycerin to the mist. It works like a moisturizer and as a humectant (draws moisture from the air to the skin). Vegetable glycerin can be taken internally so it is safe for my daughter to use it.

All you need is:
Distilled water, vegetable glycerin and the essential oil(s) of your choice. Mix them together in a glass spray bottle.

Here are some of my favorite oil combinations:

Lavender and Eucalyptus Oils
This combination may help relive depression, anxiety, pain, inflammation and congestion.

Ylang Ylang and Geranium Oils
This combination may increase relaxation, balance your mind and also sensuality.

Lavender and Geranium Oils
This combination works great on your body and mind by increasing relaxation, balancing your hormonal system, while also being great for most skin types. I recommend this combination for all the first timers.

Rose Otto, Neroli and Frankincense Oils
This combination is a “Golden combination” for the adult skin.

Experiment and find your favorite combination(s)!

    1. Hi! With frequent or daily use, you shouldn’t have to worry about expiration date! If you are worried, make it in smaller batches 🙂
