If you’ve been following me for awhile, you probably know how much I love talking about food. Sure, it’s because I simply love food… but there’s another reason as well!

The reason is that what we put in our bodies affects us both mentally and physically. We are what we eat. So, I can’t help but talk about food!

I also often talk about the importance of having good blood circulation for healthier, younger looking skin. When our skin metabolizes, new skin cells are produced every day. But as we age, our skin’s metabolism slows down just like in other parts of the body. In order to keep and increase the metabolism of the skin, good circulation is key.

Think about it.

Better circulation means more oxygen flow and makes it easier for nutrients to reach the top layer of the skin. When the skin is given proper nutrients, turnover speeds up and the result is more radiant, softer, beautiful looking skin.

But did you know that there are certain foods/spices that increase blood circulation from the inside? I’m talking about common spices that you probably have in your kitchen cabinet.

These spices are so-called “warming” foods in Asian culture. They help raise our body temperature from the core, often by boosting blood circulation or removing excess water from the tissue. They also promote healthy digestion, reduce bloating, and help you lose weight – win, win, win!

These magical spices are:

  • Cinnamon: This sweet and aromatic spice increases blood circulation and boosts metabolic activity. It’s loaded with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It’s also a natural blood thinner so if you have any blood issues, please consult with your doctor before incorporating.
  • Ginger: A common ingredient in Asian and Indian cuisines. Ginger has been used in many cultures for its medicinal properties for centuries. Ginger promotes healthy digestion and sweating and warms the all parts of the body from the inside!
  • Cumin: Extremely good for promoting healthy digestion! For this reason, it’s a good idea to drink hot water with cumin before bed to promote a healthy stomach. A great spice for those who want to lose weight.
  • Coriander: A spice containing iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc and magnesium! Unlike other dry spice seeds, it also includes Vitamin C. Coriander is one of the best herbs for supporting digestion and clearing the digestive tract of trapped gas after a meal.
