Frown Lines: How To Get Rid Of Them Naturally

Frown lines are an occurrence on most adult people’s faces. This type of wrinkles reminds of the number 11, and thus, these creases are also called “11 Lines”. Most people don’t like them because they are often very apparent and hard to reduce or prevent naturally. This is why many of them decide to have the frown lines corrected surgically. But are they right? Is there really no natural way to combat “11 Lines”? In my almost 20 years long experience with Face Yoga, both my practitioners and I confirmed that this problem could be tackled with a couple of simple routines that include awareness and facial exercises.

WHAT CAUSES FROWN LINES

Eyebrow muscle tension can arise from various situations:

  1. Intense anger
  2. Overwhelming fear
  3. Severe depression
  4. Intense headaches
  5. Extreme concentration
  6. Excessive squinting

In general, eyebrow muscles are used to express displeasure, worry, anger, discontent, discomfort, and other negative emotions. Prolonged periods of extreme or negative emotions can lead to the development of “frown lines” or “number 11 lines” and many people want to get rid of these, but not many know what these lines do to your mental health.

Numerous experiments have been conducted to explore the effects of forced furrowing of eyebrows, yielding intriguing results. People with furrowed brows tend to experience heightened negative emotions. In essence, the presence of frown lines can be a signal from the brain that one is not feeling happy!

FACE YOGA EXERCISE FOR FROWN LINES

One of the reasons I believe in smiling is smiling makes you “happy” even when you are not!  Your brain notices you when you are smiling. Your eyebrows are relaxed and your brain “thinks” you are happy.

Let your eyebrow muscles relax by contracting/resisting and exercising your eyebrow muscles. By doing this you can improve your blood circulation in the eyebrows so that not only can you prevent, decrease and diminish lines but you will look happier and younger! Your face is the first thing that people notice when they meet you.

When you are stressed and unhappy, it shows on your face.  When you are happy and content, it shows on your face.

In this video, you will use your fingers and contract/resist and exercise the eyebrow muscles.

  5. I haven’t seen any videos for the actual frown lines. All frown line video references are leading to the forehead area. Where are the videos for the actual frown lines?

    1. Hi Fumiko,

Can I just ask when you pull the skin away are you not causing it to stretch ? Is that not bad for the skin? I am currently trying to improve my no. 11 lines and like this exercise but worried that will do more harm than good.

      Many thanks in advance !

      1. I think you should be fine just pressing into the muscle without pulling skin. This will relax the muscle and remind you what it feels like when they aren;t tense.
I work alot with my hands and have been a squinter my whole life. I don`t need glasses though, I just do it while concentrating…Anywho, I find that when I can`t touch my face because I have stuff on my hands I just put a light smile on. This instantly relaxes my whole face. You don`t have to smile so much that people think you`re cray cray, just a small calm smile.

        1. Good to hear from someone who is not extreme anger, extremely depressed, etc. Concentrating, and light-sensitivity is what causes my frown lines, and they are temporary. Now, the frown lines I have just now, are due to irritation that a ’14 year old’ is shown – “frown lines?” although, certainly, more pleasant to see the youthful glow, and the preponderance of negative causes. Thank you.
