How To Reduce Cheek Fat and Firm Your Cheeks

Firming and toning your cheeks is so much easier than you might think. With this quick and easy cheek exercise you use your tongue as a sort of mini barbell for extra resistance.

Learn how to master this quick facial exercise to firm your cheeks and you can do it anywhere. You can do it while you are in the shower every morning. I do it while I am jogging so that my cheeks are going against gravity and not with it.

  1. Hi thank you for this, I need clarity on my tongue position, it wants to curl and press into the domed section in my central roof of mouth, is this correct or should it be flat and pressing behind the upper teeth part of the roof of mouth? Thank you x

    1. Hi Jet! 🙂 Push your tongue up to the roof of the mouth. Keep pushing hard for 10 seconds then relax. Do this two more times.By pushing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, the muscles around the mouth and the cheek contract more. This exercise also tones the neck area. When you do this pose, it is very important to keep both corners of your mouth at the same level. When you first try this pose, check yourself with a mirror making sure your mouth is properly positioned. Make sure you feel the muscles on the cheeks lifted up.

  2. That’s amazing! I ought to try it as soon as possible. Although, my issue has always been aging. That’s why I’m thinking more of doing facial fat grafting. But I’m going to try this exercise first in case the reduction of cheek fat will also succeed in making me look younger.

    I’m 20 years old. I’ve lost around 10 pounds over the last few months, but my face is still fat, especially the lower part of my face (i’ve attached a photo). Would this exercise help reduce that fat? Please tell me how to make my face slimmer. Thank you.

    I’m 23 and I have more of a round/oblong face. I am slim but I have too much fat in the lower part of my cheeks, around my jawline. I always thought it was the shape of my jaw but recently when I pulled the skin back with my fingers I realised I actually have a more pointy jaw than I thought and I liked the way it looked. Do you know any exercise that would help get rid of that extra ‘meat’ around my jawline to make my lower face look more pointy and less square?

I just want to add to this, if you know if there is a way to make my chin shape more defined but not too thin around the jaw, so that I have that ‘heart-shaped’ face, that would be really amazing! Do you know what I mean? So that the face is still round and full but the chin is more pointy and defined. Maybe this isn’t possible to do but if you have any tips, please let me know 🙂 I will send a before and after picture if I notice a change xox

  9. I had great hope about this method. After all my efforts and all that hot water i drank (also recommanded by Fumiko), it doesn’t work an ounce, my cheeks are still fuller than ever around the mouth, (1 month and a half of practice) . I can’t tell how greatly i’m disappointed.
    That method definitely doesn’t work for everyone….. I guess i’m one of the fucking unlucky people, nothing works for me i’ve tried absolutely everything found on the internet…………

  11. Hi Fumiko, I have been doing this method and the face lift methods but there are no changes 🙁 Can you explain to me why is my face like this? Because, i’m very frustrated and i’m very concern because, i’m beginning to lose self esteem just because of my facial feature 🙁 please help me. 🙁

    1. Hi Patricia,

      How long have you been doing? The Face Yoga Method is like a body exercise and some people get results in 10 days and others take longer… Sorry you are frustrated but unlike the body which you can see the changes rather easily, (like using scale, belt, etc) it is often harder to see the changes on the face. So please take before photos and after photos and see if there is any change you can see.

      And some parts of the face is harder to see the changes than the other. Usually, it is easier to see the changes on the chin area….

    Well, before, my cheeks are even, their shape/chubbiness are even. But then, I ate a lot. Mostly salty/sweet foods, then I researched that salty foods make face bloat so I manage to lessen it rather than stop it instantly. I am also exercising everyday. After class, when I’m going home, I make 10-15 minute walk. But still, I noticed recently, that when I smile at the camera, my cheeks become uneven. My right cheek is chubbier than my left cheek. What should I do to make it even? I’m really looking forward to your response and tips. Thank you.

    1. I have exactly the same problem as yours, right cheek is fuller which makes my jaws look uneven, except it’s been like this since i’m 16 (i’m 23 now) and i’ve never been fat, and this makes me feel terrible about myself
      I’ve been doing this exercise on the video + other facial yoga exercises for maybe 2 months now, there is absolutely no improvement, actually the only change i can notice is that my right cheek is even fuller and more saggy…… i don’t know what i’m doing wrong.

      1. Okay, i’m going to edit my message.
        I’ve actually been doing mostly random cheek exercices found on the internet, and when i posted this (puffing my cheeks, doing the fish face, drinking plenty of water, etc.), it didn’t work and i was desperate.
        I tried only a little of your method in all my facial exercise mix, but it wasn’t enough it seems.

        So i’ve been doing the way you do it on the video and ONLY that, for 9 days now, at least 10mn a day (because i had still hope!!), and i’m telling you : it is definitely working so far!
        Right cheek is more tone and slim. It looks more symmetrical now. Im still doing the exercises in the morning and at night.

        If it stays this way, even if my right cheek is still not as even as the left one, i would be so happy!! So thank you Fumiko, i feel it’s evolving in a good way 🙂

    I have an assymetrical face from the pictures I took. My left side cheek is smaller and more lifted. How do I target that and make my right side as small and lifted?
    Also, is sleeping on my right side causing imbalance?

  21. I have quite big face and my cheeks tend to become chubbier if i put on lil. Will this exercise help to reduce my chybby cheeks?
