The Secrets Of Peruvian Power Foods

Many of you already know, I LOVE to eat. Sometimes I think about dinner while eating breakfast. While eating dinner, I think about the next day’s breakfast. I often ask my husband, Henry, what he wants to have for dinner while eating breakfast. I also LOVE to cook. I love to cook because I love to eat. I love to eat what I want to eat, and in the way I want to eat. I truly believe what you eat is who you are. Not only do my skin and body feel but my mood changes depending on the foods I put in my body.

Eating is one of my passions and so is cooking!!

There is a Japanese saying, “Autumn with the sky clear and blue and horses growing stout.” It is getting close to the holiday season and the average American gains 5 pounds during this season. For those who are trying to diet during this season, it can be a hard time… As for the type of foods I eat, I eat everything but in moderation. I choose healthy foods, but I indulge myself with dessert and a cocktail sometimes. So when I heard about the new “Peruvian power foods” my curiosity was raised.

Recently I was lucky enough to interview Manuel Villacorta, who just published the book, Peruvian Power Foods. Manuel is a nationally recognized dietitian and the founder of Eating Free, the international weight management and wellness program. He is also the author of Eating Free: The Carb-Friendly Way to Lose Inches, Embrace Your Hunger, and Keep the Weight Off for Good (HCI, May 2012).

Recently, I interviewed Manuel and got the real scoop on the secret of power foods! Manuel defines power foods as “hard working functional foods that far surpass basic nutritional contents. They are the cleanest, most powerful, antioxidant-rich, anti-aging foods available anywhere.” After reading his new cookbook, Peruvian Power Foods, I got so excited.

There are a lot of secrets in the book and all the recipes are very easy.

After trying some of the recipes, I got even more excited because they are more delicious than I imagined! He even has recipes for super drinks, cocktails and snacks (yum!!)
