How To Improve Facial Asymmetry

It’s no surprise that facial asymmetry is among the top concerns of many Face Yogis. Perhaps it’s because we’ve never been given a natural solution that works before! Many people, maybe even yourself, think of asymmetry as something you either have to correct surgically or simply learn to live with it.

This was my story too.

Luckily for us both, I didn’t like either of those scenarios!

Apart from medical conditions and accidents, facial asymmetry has its roots in posture and habits, and those are easy to fix once you know what to look for.

Causes of Facial Asymmetry

Your habits are either preventing or causing asymmetry. It doesn’t happen overnight, but repeated patterns can either serve you or work against you with time.

Do you always…

  • Sleep on the same side of your face?
  • Chew on the same side of your mouth?
  • Carry your bag on the same shoulder?
  • Brush your teeth with the same hand?
  • Cross your legs on the same side?

While seemingly simple or even obsolete, these habits have a significant impact on your symmetry over time. For example, habitually chewing on one side of the mouth can wear down that side due to overuse or develop more muscle on that side over the other — both of which result in facial asymmetry.

In cultivating awareness around these habits and consciously choosing to integrate this newfound awareness in how you do things, you’re also preventing asymmetry from forming in the first place.

How Posture Affects Your Face

The body and face are intricately connected!

While you might not always think of them as working hand in hand with each other, they are. Your posture is one of the critical aspects of your whole Face Yoga Method Practice.

Whether you’re paying attention or not, your posture is doing its thing in either protecting your face or working against it. Poor posture and seemingly harmless habits can cause an imbalance in the body.

Sitting with legs crossed, leaning on one leg while standing, or twisting the body to play musical instruments, among others, can all cause an imbalance in the vertebrae. You can then see how uneven weight distribution offsets the vertebrae, which will, in turn, show on your face, too, in the form of asymmetry.

Correcting Facial Asymmetry

Now that you know what causes facial asymmetry and how paying attention to your habits and posture can prevent facial asymmetry, what if you already have asymmetry you’d now like to correct?

The good news is, The Face Yoga Method is a scientifically proven, all-natural option for correcting asymmetry!

Wow never thought of what could happen to your face or body if you repeating the same gestures to one side rather than alternating! Interesting!
