The 3 Leading Causes Of Jowls

Let’s talk jowls!

This part of the face is a very common area of concern among our Face Yogis. But while sagging jowls are easy to develop, they are also easy to tone and reshape. Because the Face Yoga Method focuses on lifestyle as a whole, it’s important to first note what is actually causing this problem, and then bring in the exercises to reverse it.

In general, the tree leading causes of jowls are the habits such as bad posture, lifestyle choices and gravity that is constantly pulling down on us. Let’s talk about these in a little more depth.

The 3 Leading Causes Of Jowls

#1 Habits

Our everyday habits are one of the leading causes of jowls and a sagging jawline. “Jowls” is a term used to describe sagging skin below the chin and jawline. It’s a very common occurrence to develop this problem as people age, because our skin naturally loses its collagen and elastin production (read: elasticity).

Bad posture and looking down at our phone while texting, for example, leads to sagging neck and jawline. But, this habit can be prevented with just a little bit of daily awareness.

#2 Gravity

Gravity combined with our Aging Habits, like looking down at our desk or phones for hours each day can also contribute to the lower face skin sagging. Gravity is constantly pulling down on us, but by changing little habits like our posture, the way we eat, and how we apply our skin care, can all help fight against gravity’s effects on our skin.

#3 Lifestyle

The great news here is that your lifestyle choices and jawline exercises can be an effective method to reduce sagging jowls! Plus, practicing these exercises can tone and tighten the muscles in the face and neck, as well as regain the skin’s elasticity, while preventing more sagging and diminishing the one that has already developed.

In order to help you regain your confidence, we want to share with you what we do best, Face Yoga, and outline a great exercise you can do to regain your confidence and reduce sagging jowls.
