Acupressure For Reducing Glabellar Lines

Glabellar lines, or the vertical lines between the eyebrows, sometimes referred to as frown or 11 lines, are lines that form due to consistent frowning, focusing, and squinting. Many men and women are concerned about these creases as they can make them look older, angry or unhappy, even when they are not. Aging and sun exposure also cause deep glabellar lines, but they are mostly caused by the consistent movement of our eyebrows and forehead muscles. Therefore, loosening up the eyebrow muscles is a great way to reduce and prevent 11 lines.

You can do exercises for glabellar lines any time of day, but one of the most effective times to do, at least a few sets, is before going to bed so that you are not falling asleep with them expressed on your forehead. While many people wish to reduce them in order to regain their confidence and avoid surgical interventions, studies have that people who have glabellar lines generate more negative emotions. This doesn’t come as a surprise knowing that our body communicates with our mind, and therefore an expression of the wrinkles between our eyes sends signals to your brain that you are not happy.

By practicing Face Yoga, you help boost blood circulation in your face, and relax the muscles around the eyebrows. This in turn will result in minimizing glabellar lines and leaving you with a more youthful appearance and happier mindset!

How Do You Get Rid Of Glabellar Lines Naturally?

“The Forehead Acupressure Point Push (With Hands)” is a great exercise to start with that will relax your forehead and remove tension that causes wrinkles and glabellar lines.

  1. Make fists with both hands and place your middle and index finger knuckles onto the center of your forehead.
  2. Apply firm pressure
  3. While keeping the pressure, slowly slide your fists to the sides of your forehead. Bring them back to the center. Repeat 4 more times.
  4. Repeat 2 more sets.

Here is the exercise in pictures:

Two additional tips to relax your eyebrows and smoothen the forehead wrinkles are:

  1. Massage this area, especially before bed time
  2. Don’t forget to apply moisturizer to this area, which is oftentimes missed

We’d love to offer you a FREE forehead routine so you can continue your Face Yoga practice and diminish unwanted wrinkles, all while embracing age and feeling happier!

  1. This makes no sense to me when I consider the muscles involved. The procerus muscle is right in the middle of the eye brow. I would think that muscle is the one causing the problems. The other muscles from the brow to the hair line are running up and down. Do they separate or something?

    1. Hi, Marc! Glabellar lines, which manifest between the eyebrows, extend to encompass the delicate muscles situated just above the brow line. They result from the continual, repetitive action of frowning, causing this entire region to accumulate considerable stress and tension that ought to be alleviated. This is the rationale behind gently applying pressure with our knuckles, commencing from the procerus muscles and extending all the way to the outer edges of the eyebrows. Additionally, this technique aligns with the flow of the lymphatic system.

  2. The illustrations seem to be back to front and pushing inwards instead of outwards. Am I to follow the instructions or the illustrations?
