The Swan Neck — Tips To Tone Your Jawline

First things first, let’s get clear on what causes a saggy, droopy neck.

Naturally, as you age, the neck will sag and loosen. The skin and the muscles start to fall, which causes extra fat due to the loss of toned muscles. As you might already know, the Face Yoga Method can naturally tone and tighten the muscles beneath the skin’s surface to regain a toned and smooth appearance.

One Face Yoga Method pose, in particular, is our go-to for reducing neck wrinkles and getting and beautiful neck — The Swan Neck. This is our most recommended exercise for losing neck fat and obtaining a 100% natural neck lift. But there are a few things to keep in mind for optimal results.

The Swan Neck: Effective Neck Wrinkle Exercise

Let’s start with the basics. How to do The Swan Neck?

  1. Move your gaze to the upper right about 45 degrees, and then turn your head in the same direction.
  2. Pucker your mouth and move it to the right while feeling the stretch on the left front of your neck.
  3. Hold for 5 seconds.
  4. Come back to the center.
  5. Repeat on the opposite side.
  6. Repeat two more sets on each side.
  7. Come out of the pose and smile.

You can also do this pose with the help of the hands. You’ll simply follow the above steps but incorporate the hands by interlacing them in front of you.

  1. Interlace your fingers with your arms extended in front of you.
  2. Push your hands away from you with your palms facing inward.
  3. Separate your shoulder blades.
  4. Push them down.
  5. Follow the above steps.

The Swan Neck: Best Practices In Reducing Neck Wrinkles

To ensure optimal results from this fantastic pose, here are a few other things to note.

  • Keep your chest open, and your heart open throughout the pose. Good posture is correlated with the effectiveness of EVERY exercise.
  • After the pose, make sure to smile to smooth out your mouth and lip area. This allows for the muscles to reset and balance out.
  • Move your gaze first, and then let your body follow your gaze. This prevents discomfort or pain in your neck area.
  • Keep your forehead relaxed. This prevents unnecessary fine lines from forming in the forehead area.
  • Don’t push too hard or hold your breath. Restricting your breath or excess force can cause injury and deter you from results.
  • If you have neck pain, try practicing slowly and feel the stretch.

You can do this practice throughout the day but always ensure proper posture and breathing. You’ll even be able to feel your muscles activating as you turn your head to the opposite side. However, even though you’re tilting your head, make sure your shoulders stay relaxed.
