How Facial Massage Supports Your Face Yoga Method Practice

We hear your confusion, and we want to set it straight. While facial massage and Face Yoga each have their benefits, they are not the same! However, combining them is a power-duo you won’t want to overlook!

Knowing how to combine techniques to progress your Face Yoga Method results will set you up for success in your Skin Care Journey. We’re here to help.

Benefits Of Facial Massage With Face Yoga Practice

Facial massage is a beautiful addition to your Face Yoga Method exercises as it helps relax overworked and overactive muscles. The forehead, temples, and jawline store a lot of tension during the day. A gentle, relaxing massage in the evening can help alleviate stress and anxiety, help you fall asleep, and wake up refreshed.

Next to relaxation, one of the other benefits of facial massage is that it improves overall skin quality, increases blood flow, and activates your lymphatic system. While both facial massage and Face Yoga are extremely effective alone, paired together, they act in unity to activate and soothe your muscles.

In addition, facial massage can support your practice by helping alleviate bad habits such as frowning at night and clenching and grinding your teeth. During the day, facial massage can energize your skin by providing fresh oxygenated blood and nutrients needed for healthy and glowing skin.

The Ins and Outs Of Facial Massage

A facial massage is a versatile tool that can have different benefits depending on the technique and pressure. Next to relaxing and energizing, it can also detoxify skin by encouraging the movement of lymph fluids around the face, flushing out toxins. Performing facial massage regularly will increase your Face Yoga Method results and add to the glow of your skin!

How To Do Facial Massage For Detoxification

This specific technique is excellent for eye bags and puffiness around the face and neck. This gentle massage supports healthy skin cell production and speeds up skin cell turnover.

  • Take a few deep breaths and always drink water before and after the massage. Applying moisturizer before the massage is optional.
  • Start to gently tap with the tip of your ring finger from the inner corner of the eye along the eye socket to the outer corner of the eyes.
  • Stay here for a deep breath.
  • Repeat one more time from the inner corner, along the socket, to the outer corner.
  • Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.
  • Start tapping with your fingertips under your eyes and again on the eye sockets.
  • Move up to the hairline and down to the ears to release the lymph fluid.
  • Repeat one more time to the hairline, down to the ears, and with no pressure, let your fingers glide along the sides of your neck down to your collarbone.
  • Starting on the middle of the forehead, let your hands glide to the temples, to the ears, and again down to the collarbone.
  • If you wear glasses, take them off.
  • Repeat two more times with no pressure as you tap because you are detoxifying, and pressure would block the lymph instead of moving it.
  • Move to the mid-face, from the sides of the nose to the sides of your face, and down the front of the face.
  • You can always integrate Face Yoga exercises like the Big O here.
  • Swipe under the chin and along the jawline with both hands to get rid of all the fluids that tend to get stuck there.
  • Swipe from the jawline to the chest and look up to the ceiling.
  • You can finish with The Swan Neck.

Integrating Facial Massage and Face Yoga

Face Yoga and facial massage go hand in hand — like working out and stretching. One supports the other. Face Yoga is the Practice of toning and strengthening your facial muscles beneath the skin’s surface. It smooths out fine lines and wrinkles and shapes and lifts your face, among other benefits. Pairing it with a gentle tapping massage, as we outlined above, is the perfect way to enhance all its benefits.

You can also combine it simultaneously with your Face Yoga Poses or do it before or after completing your Routine. For a full Face Yoga Method Routine that targets and stimulates every face area download our FREE all-time favorite exercises.
